Small and Medium Enterprises make up over 99 per cent of all the enterprises in Cambodia and account for almost half of all employment. However, young people often leave school ill-equipped and lacking in the skills private enterprises need their staff to possess.

Education Philosophy
We regard education as the foundation upon which all life skills and social integration are built. The more you know about the world, the more tools you have to relate constructively and creatively with it. All education for Cambodia Youth Scholars is aimed at this goal of fruitful relationship between the student and his or her world. For this purpose
Students learn:
- a body of general information that gives them access to careers and choices
- speaking, thinking, reading and writing skills so they can be successful members of Cambodia and the international community
- active learning habits that support them to be life-long learners
- mastery of the national curriculum including successful completion of high school and a passing score on the national exam
- tours of university programs in Phnom Penh & connections to students and staff at those universities who might mentor them
- exploration of effective vocational programs
- supplemental learning at international standards that prepare students for possible opportunities beyond and within Cambodia
Students are expected to:
- Get good grades in public school, and master the Cambodian National Curriculum
- Practice self-study strategies and study-group strategies
- Ask questions, state their opinions, & express ideas in speaking and writing in Khmer and English
- Seek tutors when needed, or be a tutor for another student who seeks help in a subject
- Read daily, in a variety of media---fiction, nonfiction, news, assigned texts and texts they choose
